Nhra_20's blog: spring weather 2017

Posted on May 18, 2017 8:34 PM

This spring has been detrimental to some of my lilies. We had an unusual warm spell in early April. While messing around in the garden I noticed some lily noses were up already. NOOOOOOO!!!! Next thing you know, everything is taller than the mulch I laid down for the winter. Lilies keep growing. Then we had 3 different nights in a 2 week period or so that we had gotten frost. The damage took days to settle in and really know the amount of damage.

Then just last night a bad wind/hail storm blows into town. Tore some stem tops off, and the hail sliced and cut the crap out of the foliage. Nothing I can do. Thank god I had spring planted bulbd as they were protected as they had not emerged yet.
