LysmachiaMoon's blog: Yes, there ARE stupid questions

Posted on Jul 25, 2015 8:15 AM

You know how everybody always says (so solemnly) "there are no stupid questions." I beg to differ. I am sooo tired of stupid questions. Sometimes I suspect R asks them on purpose, just to push my buttons. If so, I am getting better at gritting my teeth and remaining poker faced. Examples:
1. He pulls the wrapper off a steak so he can cook the steak on the grill. He is standing in the kitchen, near the garbage pail. "What should I do with this wrapper?" he asks. I SAY: "Put it in the garbage pail." I THINK: "I"LL TELL YOU WHERE YOU CAN PUT IT....."

2. I have just finished a monumental laundry and it is out on the line, crisp and dry. We are on the deck. It begins to rain. I dash for the line, basket in hand. "Do you want me to take these off the line too?" he asks.
I SAY: "Yes please, and hurry." I THINK: YES and then you know what I'm going to do next with that clothesline???!!

Do I sound bitter? *lol*

Not much going on in the garden today. Yesterday, I got the bed below the grape arbor tidied up, cleaned off the grape arbor floor, and made a (somewhat shaky) bamboo tripod to hold my wisteria vine up to train it into a tree form. I couldn't sink the legs of the tripod deep into the soil (too dry just now) so it's not as secure as I wanted it. Will have to work at that.

We had 2 days of really nice cool dry weather, but now the heat and humidity are building back in. I need to get into the henhouse and give it a good turnout and cleaning, but ick....so hard to do when it's hot and sticky out. That dust.

First of the tiny cherry tomatoes ripe. Yum. So sweet. These come up "wild" every year in the veg garden and they are the sweetest I've ever eaten. I guess I have unwittingly selected for them. I know that I usually pull up and get rid of the vines that aren't that tasty.

Back to work. Still stuck in the office with that big project...
