A Few Tips About Taking Pictures of Plants
Posted on Sep 15, 2011 12:28 PM

I'm not an expert gardener or photographer. But I appreciate the beauty of plants and the serenity their pictures brings to the eye. So I thought it would be fun to share some tips on taking pictures of your plants.

Sometimes what you see and the camera sees are two different things. So you may end up deleting a lot of boring pictures. You might want to try taking a shot from another angle or zooming in/away.

On the other hand, you may be surprised what the camera brings out from something that looks boring to your eyes.

Also consider the light. It can make a dramatic difference. Where the light hits on the leaves, or through the leaves. Where the shadows are. If the light is too harsh or not bright enough.

Of course if you are skilled with image editing software, you can do a lot to fix a shot. I'm not really a technical person myself, and I know there are others like me out there lol. However just playing with the settings can yield some fun, interesting results.

If you like to share your plant pics, perhaps consider starting a photo blog.

Well those are just a few tips, hopefully they help someone out there.

A few examples are below.

Peace.
