Poor plants!
Posted on Aug 31, 2011 8:37 AM

My potted plants were doing very well considering we had so many 100+ days.  However, we had a short time of 90s and then temps went right back to 100s. The plants just could not handle another heatwave, so many of them are inching their way to the compost pile!

Water
Posted on Aug 12, 2011 10:21 AM

We have had rain for the last three days, with a total of 5 inches of water!  We really needed it!  The lake was down so far that we could not take out the seadoos because the dock was sitting on dry land! The lake is full again and we can ride!  I hope we get to this weekend.

We actually sat outside the last few days and drank our morning coffee...nice to hear the rain and it was not 100 degrees at 8:00am.  This morning was dry, sunny and warm (not hot!)  The high today is 93...which is about 15 degrees cooler than last week!

Heat!
Posted on Aug 5, 2011 9:48 AM

How can it be this hot?  What is Mother Nature thinking?  We had a pretty cold winter and now a terribly hot summer.  Plants will not recover for years, if at all! Yet, I just purchased more hostas on cubits.  Yes, I have an awful disease called "can'tstopbuyin'em"  It is a well known illness with NO cure...not that I want a cure ;o))

Hot Sun
Posted on Jul 17, 2011 10:36 AM

We went to the lake yesterday.  I am not certain if I got sunburned or heat burned...even with sunscreen (spf 30 with zinc oxide)  Either way, my skin hurts and is red.  I have not been this red since I was 15 and layed out in the sun for 7 hours...I was watching the boys ;o)

I have already watered for the morning and I will have to water again around sunset, otherwise, I am staying indoors today!

OMG! It is sooo hot!  We need some rain water...I did hear thunder a little while ago and the cloud went right around us :o(  The EEs and coleus don't mind the heat but the hostas are beginning to show stress.
