Talking about Lily (Lilium 'Urandi'), Joy wrote:

I grow my lilies in containers. Last fall I potted my Urandi into a larger container because it had outgrown the container it was in. It was so heavy that I left it in the area I potted it in. It's now in a full-sun area, whereas it previously had shade during the hottest part of the day. What I've discovered is that it's more of a white lily in full sun. It was much prettier, with more color, when it was in part-shade. The color reminds me of opals. I think I'll move it back to the part-shade area. This is a very tall lily. I didn't measure, but it has to be 7 ft or taller, with many, many blooms starting low on the plant and going up to the top. One of the longest-blooming lilies I've grown. Impressive!

Talking about Lily (Lilium 'Cancun'), Joy wrote:

I tried growing Cancun two separate times from two different sources. Both times, by the second year, the lily was affected by the color-breaking virus and I had to dispose of the entire plant to keep it from spreading to my other lilies. I don't know whether I just had bad luck with this one or if this is common with this cultivar, but I won't be trying it again.

Talking about Lily (Lilium auratum var. platyphyllum), Marilyn wrote:

I love this lily and it is my favorite of the ones I've grown over the years!

I had wanted this particular variety, which I knew as Gold Band, for many years because it is very beautiful. More than a decade ago I had ordered several bulbs of this variety from a company that sold lilies, as well as other perennials and bulbs, but they didn't bloom as the correct variety, to my disappointment. I'd had a lot of disappointments of lilies not sprouting over the years, so I didn't plant any more after that. I think it was because the critters found the bulbs and ate them or because of the soil conditions I gave them.

One day in 2013, I saw a pic on ATP of Lilium auratum var. platyphyllum that @chelle had posted and I was in love. I just had to have these beauties growing and blooming in my yard. I ordered three bulbs from Old House Gardens - Heirloom Bulbs the fall of 2013, and I was beyond ecstatic the spring of 2014, as I finally got the beautiful blooms in my garden! This year, they're even better, larger and taller. I'm pretty sure that an additional stem sprouted up!

When I planted them, I amended the soil to their liking and added crushed oyster shells to the planting hole to deter the critters from getting these treasures.

Talking about Lily (Lilium 'Star Gazer'), magnolialover wrote:

'Stargazer,' though its own clone lily cultivar, has been often synonymous with an oriental lily. Many cultivars are sold as 'Stargazer,' but are not actually the Stargazer clone bred by Leslie Woodriff. Buying this Lily from a reputable grower increases your chances of actually getting the real clone, Stargazer, not just an unnamed oriental lily.
