The Green Pages: Caladium Bulbs 4 Less (E-Commerce Companies)

I have purchased Jack's Giant colocasia, caladiums, alocasia portora and portadora from Caladium Bulbs 4 Less. When I had a problem with some Jack's Giant corms (my fault), the owner, Bill, replaced them with even larger corms, and an extra one to boot! They are now huge, beautiful tropical plants. Caladium corms were much larger than expected, and bloomed wonderfully. The alocasia corms were so large----I had to laugh when I removed them from their box---maybe 10 lbs. apiece is not exaggerating, and they are growing well in this, their first year. Bill is such a genuinely helpful, generous gentleman, I can't recommend his company enough.

I won a Caladium photo contest last year with 1st prize of 50 grade 1 caladium bulbs (variety chosen by winner). Prize to be allotted the following spring. My pick was 'Moonlight' (actual name is 'Florida Moonlight'). He noted his stock (at that time) was somewhat depleted and he'd fix that by sending 25 grade 1 bulbs and 50 grade 2 bulbs.
We planted as many as we could. The remainder were given to friends.

When I received my order of Tuberose bulbs, I was surprised to find way more than the number of clumps that I'd ordered. Bill is so generous with his goods and he takes extra care to ship and sell his products at the best rates that he can, especially for NGA members. Did you know Bill is also a great source for FUNDRAISING? Although my proposal was turned down by the finance committee due to a change in how fundraising was done, no fault of Bill's or mine, I discovered just how EASY his set-up is. He has everything you need for a successful fundraiser, and he'll give you some amazing prices. Just realize that if you host one fundraiser with his bulbs, there will be a clamor for you to make it an annual event. :-)

I've done small group buys with Bill for years, and he sends boxes stuffed with the biggest, healthiest bulbs I've ever seen! Last year was a banner year for caladiums, and he had heaps of not merely jumbo but GARGANTUAN bulbs available. If you ever see those listed, they should immediately jump into your cart! I planted them one by one in pots and in the ground, both for me and for my mom and MIL, and all were STUNNING. With regular sized bulbs from Bill, I plant in groups of 3. With caladiums from the box stores, I'd plant in groups of 5 or more. That gives you an idea of the display one jumbo or gargantuan bulb makes.

Bill's passion for caladiums is contagious, and he's always such a joy to speak with when I'm putting an order together. I know I'm getting the BEST caladiums at the best prices around. I don't usually use caps in reviews, but WOW I can't say enough good things about Bill or his caladiums!

I was thrilled to win 3rd place in the March not-a-raffle raffle. The prize I picked was from Caladium Bulbs 4 Less. The huge box of bulbs arrived very quickly, and the bulbs were large and in great shape! I've been enjoying them in my pots and greenhouse, and there are so many gorgeous ones. Unfortunately, a few of them were enjoyed by the mice and chipmunks before I got a clue. They're now fully protected. The leaves are huge and so colorful! I will definitely be ordering more of them. Bill gave members here a great deal on Double Pearl Tuberose clumps! I ordered 10 and was sent a total of 19 clumps (some very large and some smaller). They were already starting to sprout. I had enough for 3 containers and can't wait until they produce flowers and blooms! Great service, fast shipping, very generous extras, and very well packaged! What an awesome company, owned and run by an equally awesome man! Bill had gotten a special on some Tuberose clumps from one of his suppliers, so what did he do? Instead of charging the normal price and making a killing off these bulbs, he came here on our Classified Forum and offered them to us at the unbelievable price of 75 cents per clump plus postage. That is an amazing buy for anyone. But wait, that's not all. Bill then turned around and sent MORE clumps than anyone ordered. See what I mean? An awesome company and an awesome man. I'll do business with Caladium Bulbs 4 Less any day of the week!

I ordered a 5# box of assorted bulbs, which arrived on June 19. It took me a few days to get them planted. In less then a month I had WONDERFUL leaves and flower buds with more to come. I HIGHLY recommend this company.

Ordered a 10-pack of the Blaze Caladiums this year. All have come up and look great. Fast service and great bulbs. I would definitely recommend Caladium Bulbs 4 Less. You can see from the picture how huge the leaves are. That is a 1/2 whiskey barrel planter!

Received a 5lb box of caladium bulbs from caladiumbulbs4less. Since I know nothing about whether these were healthy bulbs, I had to wait until they grew before reviewing. They are now growing in pots, in the ground, and indoors. Then, being the suspicious person I am, I had to wait before reviewing until I could make sure they were more than one color. I have 5 colors so far, so I'm willing to give the company a excellent review.

I drove up to the Caladium Festival in Lake Placid this past Saturday (from Davie, FL) just to see what all the fuss was about. WOW, did I ever get a pleasant surprise! I'd recently purchased some bulbs from Bill and he'd invited me up to spend the afternoon and enjoy the festival (even offered to give me a tour of the grower's fields), so how could I resist ?

I not only got wined and dined for lunch, but I also got the "Grand Tour" of the Festival and of the beautiful multi-colored fields as well. Needless to say, Bill rattled off the names of each caladium plant as we drove past row after row of these awesome colored beauties, and I came home with a new appreciation for these incredibly colorful plants ... along with a special list of bulbs that I already know I want for next year!!!

Can't thank Bill enough for all of his help. My black thumb is slowly starting to turn a lighter shade of grey, and one of these days I hope it will eventually have a hint of green.

Caladium Bulbs 4 Less is simply the best place to buy caladiums. Bill's variety is terrific and I value his help. His bulbs are the biggest and firmest possible. He only sends the bulbs after consulting the weather in each zone so the bulbs won't face freezing during transit.

I've used only Bill's caladiums for about 7 years and each year the little girl statue gets to spotlight another one of Bill's great bulbs.

The huge (larger than super colossal) bulbs are more than amazing, as you can see from the collage. They grew with amazing speed from bulbs to a huge plant in less than a month. Superb!

The planters in the shade did so well - pure pleasure for months.

Bill's pup, Harley, is not the brains behind Bill's business but certainly is the heart.

If I couldn't get bulbs from Bill, I wouldn't grow any caladiums at all.

I have ordered Caladium bulbs from Caladiums 4 Less several times over the past 5 or 6 years. I just received this year's order and am extremely happy with my bulbs -- super fast delivery, great packing and humongous healthy bulbs. Last year I ran out of time and purchased my bulbs from a local nursery. They were small and very expensive compared to Bill's!

We've purchased caladiums from the usual sources: big box stores, farm stores, and a co-op here and there through the years, but I never knew what a really good caladium bulb looked like until I received my bulbs from Bill at Caladium Bulbs 4 Less. As you may guess from the name of the company, Caladium Bulbs 4 Less specializes in caladiums. They refer to themselves as "Your Caladium Superstore". The bulbs that you receive are very large and firm. Getting bulbs from Bill has become a springtime tradition for us, and in the 4 years that we've been receiving them, we have never had a single one arrive soft or rotten. The bulbs come individually packaged in paper bags with the names of the bulbs written on each bag. I've never seen a mix-up, so I always count on the right bulbs being in the right bag. Be aware - it is your job to mark your bulbs once they are out of the bag! Also included in your order are clear directions on how to plant and care for your caladiums. They also carry other tropical bulbs, gifts, and spanish moss.

Caladium Bulbs 4 Less has both a brick and mortar facility, as well as online ordering. If you are in the Lake Placid, FL area, you can visit in person. The rest of us will have to shop online.

The website is straight forward. You'll find the bulbs categorized by size, color, leaf shape, and sun requirements. You'll also find a section for the weekly special, discounts by lots, and special collections already put together for you. The two things I couldn't find were the shipping price and schedule, and the definitions of the grades of bulbs. Your shipping price does appear, however, while checking out, so there are no surprises there. If you are not familiar with the grades of caladium bulbs, as I am not, you will have to rely on the descriptions and pricing to guide you in your order. The descriptions are detailed with bulb measurements and color descriptions, so you shouldn't find it confusing.



Caladium Bulbs 4 Less makes a point to let their customers know that they value customer service. They spell out their bulb guarantee policy on their website, stressing that they do not guarantee their bulbs if the customer orders their bulbs before their last frost date. This seems reasonable and fair. In my opinion, a company should be responsible for their product when it arrives, but not for the subsequent care of the product by their customers.

Compared to other reputable caladium sellers, the prices are quite reasonable. There is a huge selection which will satisfy both the collectors and those of us who just want some beautiful color. The pictures you see are from my own caladiums from Caladium Bulbs 4 Less through the last few years, as well as bulb pictures provided by Bill. After singing the praises of Bill, his caladiums, and his company for years, I'm thrilled to be giving my whole hearted recommendation to you! I highly recommend Caladium Bulbs 4 Less!!
