The Green Pages: Summer Winds Nursery (Local Garden Centers)

I purchased ladybugs and praying mantis eggs from Summer Winds Nursery this year and I had the best luck with both. I got the SCARE of my gardening life when a very large praying mantis jumped (or whatever they do...). It ended up on my arm as I was trimming his/her home. Needless to say, I jumped and screamed like a little girl. This coming from a person who is not afraid of a rattlesnake or any other desert creature because I grew up here, but once I regained my composure I picked up a stick and persuaded it to get on the stick so I could return it to its home. I was surprised and delighted to find so many praying mantises in the garden this summer. I am hoping to see more this spring.

The knowledge of the staff regarding beneficial bugs, growing conditions, and plants is great comfort to a gardener.

I've been shopping at SummerWinds for at least 10 years. I love everything about it, and have gotten many wonderful plants. The staff is super knowledgeable and helpful. I enjoy their Rewards Club where I get discounts on my purchases as they accrue. This is one place where I never ever leave empty-handed. I heartily recommend SummerWinds!
