PVC is inexpensive and easy to work with, which makes it great for garden projects. This article will look at basic pedestal ideas.

All the parts used here were purchased at Lowes and should be available at your local home center.

Let's get started with the basic pedestal. For this you will need:

8 Els, 8 Tees, and the following pieces of 1/2" pvc pipe: eight 2" eight 4" and four 6" sections.

First you want to make a square using 4 els, 4 tees, and the 4" pieces. Then make another square using the remaining els and tees and the 2" pieces. See the image below.

Next, connect the two sections with the 6" pieces. When you're done, you will have a basic pedestal.

We can create a variety of looks merely by changing the length of the connecting pipe sections.

By changing the vertical connectors, you might create something like this. Both of the stands in the next photo have the same top and base dimensions. Only the vertical risers have changed. The one on the left is the original design and the one on the right has 18" risers.

Try making the top and bottom the same size and then experiment with the length of the risers.

Finally, paint your project, pick a good spot to display it, and enjoy.
