I had a rather steep sloping bank at the side of my driveway where it was always difficult to mow. You couldn't do it with a mower. It had to be done with a weed whacker. I did not think it was very attractive either, so I decided to transform it into a daylily garden.
The grassy slope before any work was done.
First I dug holes spaced out in rows.
Closeup of my method of holes dug first.
Then I dug daylily clumps from other areas of the garden and transplanted them.
You can see what the formerly grassy slope is starting to look like.
More views of the transplants.
Next the slope is mulched with straw between each daylily clump.
In fall I planted spring bulbs between the daylilies. That gave me spring bloom.
