Grouping tall bearded iris plants in a front corner added a favorite focal point to an underused spot.

Tall bearded irises add jewel tones of color to the spring garden, but for me, irises did not grow well in a mixed border, so I grouped many irises and tucked them into an unused corner.

Now I have green throughout the gardening season and stunning blooms for weeks each spring as the irises bloom. Best yet, there is very little to do to keep the plants growing well. Simply keep them free of mulch so that the rhizomes are not covered.
