Roses and Lilies Belong Together

I love the look of lilies planted between roses. The blooms complement each other when occurring at the same time or just give you extra color if blooming separately.

Roses make beautiful flowers, so of course they look just great planted by themselves. But I want to make the most of my garden space and maximize blooms, so I plant lily bulbs between roses in my south side rose garden.

Lilies fit in perfectly between roses as they don't take up too much room. It is easy to find a spot for the tall and skinny plants.

Plant Asiatic Lilies if you want blooms to start just before the spring flush and continue blooming with the roses. Plant Oriental and later blooming lilies to add bloom when the roses are usually out of bloom. These give you flowers blooming between your waves of rose flushes.
