This time of year I see primroses at the nurseries, the big box store, the supermarket, and nearly everywhere with a gardening section. I suppose some gardeners might consider them to be ubiquitous, common, or ordinary. For me, however, they are an enchanting part of early spring that I look forward to each year. I always buy a few and do a planter for my porch. When summer comes, I transplant them into the garden. Some years they bloom in the garden the following spring and other years they do not make it, but they are not expensive and it is worth a try. For me, they are a certain sign that spring is coming, and this lifts my spirits.
