Welcome to a new feature at All Things Plants: Garden Tours. Each week we'll take you on a tour of the lovely gardens of one of our members. This week we are going to California for the breathtaking view created by Zuzu. Come with us as she tells us all about her gardens. (Be sure to click each image for an enlarged view.)

I have to say at the outset that I'm cheating a little. These photos only show a few parts of my garden, but those ubiquitous garden hoses keep sneaking into all of my photos, so I'll have to post pictures of the other parts another time and I'll have to remember to get those hoses out of the way before I shoot.

Most of these photos were taken in April and May. There really are garden paths between the flower beds, but they're hard to see in May.

Look: a visible pathway. It leads to a big pond; then back to the cluttered look.

More chaos followed by a large Cecile Brunner rose in the background.

In the first image you see the Veilchenblau rose; but in the image on the right, Smarty, the rose on the left side of this arbor is supposed to be a ground cover. Hah!

The image on the left is one of the Banksia roses. There are three of these in my garden and they really get huge. The photo on the right is something tropical to relieve the overabundance of pastel shades.

Back to the pastels on the left and by now you're probably ready for that cup of coffee.  There's one of those garden hoses, but it's in a fairly discreet location.

This is the slope between my garden and the street, with Ambrosia sitting on the fence. The fence was designed with the cats in mind. The middle section is big enough for them to sit and watch the neighbors go by and small enough to keep dogs and other predators from chasing the cats into the garden. On the right, here's Chantilly, Ambrosia's brother, posing next to Sally Holmes.

This is Desiree among the potted plants under the fir tree and Rorschach standing in one of the alpine containers. The rose is Lady of the Dawn.

Mambo serving as part of the decor and finally, Pepplegoose walking through the Viburnum blossoms scattered by a heavy rainfall and reminding us all to stop and smell the flowers.

Zuzu, what lovely gardens! Thank you so much for sharing them with us. Not only do you have wonderful blooms, but your kitty companions are equally beautiful. When our cold winds blow this winter, we're coming right back here to enjoy the warmth we found in your garden.

Thank you all for joining us. We'll be here again next week to take you on a tour of another member's garden.

'Garden Tours' is a joint effort by Trish and Sharon.
