Welcome to a new feature at All Things Plants: Garden Tours. Each week we'll take you on a tour of the lovely gardens of one of our members. Join us now as we go to Alberta, Canada to see the gardens created by Joannabanana. I think you are going to love what you see! (Be sure to click each image for an enlarged view.)

This week's Garden Tour is from Joanne, aka Joannabanna. We think you will find her use of borders, garden art and packed beds to be inspirational! She's certainly not afraid to mix different plants together, and the results speak for themselves. Come join us!

Welcome to my garden. We had some hail damage a few weeks ago, but things have recovered nicely.

Some of my baskets got over watered when we went on vacation, so they aren't as nice as other years.  Oh well, it happens. There is a ball of Hens & Chicks hanging from the arbor. It is two 1/2 round wire baskets tied together and I planted it 4 years ago. The varieties are hardy here, so I throw the ball into the flower bed for the winter and 90% survive. I usually have to replace 2 or 3 in the spring and hang it back up for the summer. It works out great since they don't need to be watered. This photo was taken in 2009 - same ball, with a racy flower.

The sweet peas have recovered from the hail storm so here is a better photo of this section of the side yard.

Joanne, your gardens are lovely, lush and beautiful! And I am so glad your sweetpeas picked themselves up and carried on. I love the blue you've used as accent and I know we'll all be wanting to make that ball of hens and chicks. How clever! Thank you for the tour, I'm sure everyone enjoyed it as much as I did.

Thank you all for joining us. We'll be here again next week to take you with us on another member's garden tour.
