It was a personal challenge for myself. Spend no money, little time, and my very little talent to create some natural indoor decorations. Always up for a good challenge, I grabbed my clippers and a big bucket, slipped on my shoes and hurried out the door.
Seven minutes later, I arrived back, grabbing the fall wreath off the door on my way in.
The fall wreath was simply a grapevine base with oak leaves stuck in. They dried naturally there over the last couple of months. I figured that if those little branches would stay in place, then so would my evergreens. I clipped, shoved and poked. After 20 minutes, I decided that it was good enough. The pine cone and faux berry sprigs were left over from the fall creation and stayed for winter.
Taking a look at what I had left, and knowing that I really didn't want to spend a whole lot more time, I took the rest of my cuttings and trimmings and put them to good use.
I dumped the candy corn and replaced it with the trimmings for these candles.
I placed all of these holly cuttings in one vase.
I filled two bowls with pine cones and tucked holly and evergreen in them.
For the rest of the cuttings, I simply tucked them around things on shelves here and there.
I did go over my 30 minute time allotment, but only by a few minutes. It was worth it, as these little touches will last into January when I start itching to bring in more spring things.
