Just as your hair can get used to being parted in a certain direction, your grass can get used to being cut in a certain direction. I surprise my grass every couple of months and cut it “backwards” to what it’s used to. This takes care of the errant pieces and weeds that always stick up after mowing the lawn. It also encourages the grass to grow upright instead of leaning in one direction.
