How Deep for Bulbs?

You don't need to remember a lot of different rules to know how deep to plant your fall bulbs.

There's no need to remember 4 inches deep for tulips, 5-6 inches deep for daffs, etc. Just follow this rule of thumb: Plant bulbs at a depth that's 2 to 3 times their diameter. That puts little muscari bulbs just an inch or so below the surface, while big lily bulbs want you to dig 6 to 8 inches down for planting.
