We all know that spiders are great in the garden to help control insects, but not so great when they come inside the house. Fall is a bad time of year for this as the spiders are looking for a warm place to “hang out" for the winter.

I know for all of you arachnophobians out there, this is a horrible subject, but this tip will help keep you from getting frightened when you pick up a piece of clothing or something else from the floor and a big spider is on it or under it.

The easiest solution to the problem is glue traps, which are much safer for your health than insecticides or mothballs, as they are very toxic. The traps can easily be tucked under furniture, in dark corners, and close to doorways, closets, or any place the spiders can enter.

The brand that I find works best is Catchmaster, the spider and insect type. The traps have a pleasant vanilla scent and they can be found at most hardware and seed stores. Happy hunting!
