Photography Tip: Showing Scale

When small items such as seeds are being photographed, it's fairly common to place a common item near them to give a sense of their size.

Oftentimes, the item used is a coin, which is great if you happen to know the coin. It is almost completely useless to someone that does not live where the coin was from, however. To have the most widespread impact, a metric ruler should be used.
