We travel during the summer and need a watering system to take care of our hanging plants and small potted plants in our sunroom.

DH came up with a fantastic idea. We have a deck that is high enough for me to stand under. There ARE advantages to being short! I wouldn’t be too happy having to walk underneath the deck and bang my head. I have to wear a hat outside, so my vision is sometimes obstructed. If I couldn’t walk underneath the deck, I would have vetoed this idea.

DH attached drip hoses underneath the deck and hooked these up to a timer. He then attached hooks for the baskets underneath the hose.

We added two plastic troughs to hold small potted plants. These troughs were solid, so he drilled holes for drainage.

When summertime and the hot blistering days come and we are traveling, even if there is no rain in sight, it is still raining underneath the deck, thanks to our under-deck watering system!
