There has been a recent update to the Plant Database. You can search many ways now for any type of plant: by characteristics, series, color, growing zones, etc. Here are some helpful instructions, using Sempervivum for the demonstration. This information applies to all other types of plants within the database.

1. Click on the 'Plant Database' tab at top of page.

At this point you can search for a plant by name (Sempervivum), or things within a plant name, say a series. Lord of the Rings is a series of Sempervivum within the genus of Sempervivum. This search will bring up all the Sempervivum within that series.

Since all series are part of the information within the plant name, this search can be done from the first page of the database. Simply type in the name of the genus, in this case Sempervivum, with the name of the series Lord of the Rings (Sempervivum lord of the rings) and click search. Upper case and lower case letters are not important for the search.

2. Or type the name of the plant you are looking for, in this case Sempervivum. Click 'search' to access the next page.

3. You now have choices to make. You can:

a. view the entire list of Sempervivum
b. access the general Sempervivum entry
c. or search by characteristics.

To search for characteristis by size, click on 'Search by characteristics'. There you can decide what size Sempervivum you want to see by check marking the size you are looking for.
