Dark Purple Munzii (probable hybrid)
Icon for preview
Have
Pacific Coast Irises
Confusion with nursery labeling, unable to clarify this with the original nursery (email did not go through or it did not get answered); the nursery has both a dark purple I. munzii and a dark purple munzii hybrid; I am guessing this one is the latter
Planted in the side yard east shade bed at the west end
Did not bloom in 2019; bloom in 2020 starting early April

Best seedling from a cross of BAMBOO SPITFIRE x JUSTIN BRENT
Dormant or SeV near dormant (check this);
May rebloom unseasonably (winter) but generally not;
at least 3-way branching, 15 buds, in a fair amount of shade;
bloom size (last bloom) 5.5"; scape height ~ 30";
foliage and scape a little coarse;
sepals recurve; petals pinch and may twist;
good saturated red with a partial narrow near-white edge;
somewhat sunfast (better than most reds here);
have seen a small amount of rust on it, not bad

Parentage: HIP TO BE SQUARE x OSTERIZED
May sometimes rebloom but not reliably;
Bud count in #2-3 pot is 13-16, with 3-way branching;
2017 FFO 5-22, LFO 9-6
Very low % polymerous <= 5%
Difficult to pod - only on last bloom(s) on scape;
Finally removed in 2020-2021 in triage downsizing.
Removed from the garden 2021?
part of clump lost to rot in 2016 (still in pot, too much water, fertilizer)

Daylilies, unregistered
Volunteer seedling (presumed to be) from SACRAMENT OF HEALING, found 2012;
may sometimes rebloom but not reliably;
creamy near-white bloom, generally a good opener, possibly EMO but may be nocturnal; some seedlings from this also have good opening, so the trait seems to propagate;
pollen fertile, but has been impossible to set a pod on - keep as pollen parent;

Died from drought 2021; Keep as historical record since it is a parent of other seedlings.

Amaryllis
Purchased locally (farm box) and received as NOID Amaryllis the day before Warp's last Thanksgiving in 2022.

May possibly be 'Rosalie', or 'Amalfi', or others currently in commerce (John Scheepers). Since it IS a NOID, am designating it as "Warp's Thanksgiving".

Large medium pink flowers; very nice.
