lauribob's Plant List

A note from lauribob
I am not interested in selling or trading live plants. I do save seeds once in awhile and would be willing to trade those.

This is not a recognized cultivar. I can't remember where I bought it, maybe the nursery in Brewster that closed.

This yellow one was seeded by the birds on the powerline, near as I can tell. I didn't plant it. I need to move it - it's right behind another yellow one.

Dead Zone
This was in the KK garden. It was stunning, but disappeared one year after it was well established. 'Bird on a Wire' is there now in the exact same place. It's sort of a mystery to me.

Crabapple
Not a registered cultivar. It's a nice, kind of dusty red.
2020: This might be gone - gophers.

Veggie Garden Perennials
Z5
This a robust unregistered daylily - I've divided it many times and given it away. Originally planted by the back porch, it's also under the kitchen window, on the west side of the grinder side of the KK garden, and under the black elderberry outside the veggie garden. The original one needs to be divided again.

NOID. Made up name. I thought it was August Moon, but it isn't. Might be Elegans. See what color the blooms are and try to narrow it down. I think I got it from Gilbert Wild.

Vegetables
This is a nice mix of leafy and romaines, in a variety of colors and sizes. They've done really well for us, if we plant them early enough.
2010: These did well this year and we picked a lot of lettuce before it bolted.

NOID Made up name. From Jody. Opens deep purple, fades to lilac. This one has done the best of all the starts Jody gave me way back in the early 90's. It's happy, healthy and spreading.

This is a seedling from either Cancun or Barcelona. Bloomed in '18

Another one I got from Becker years ago. Finally bloomed 2019.

Aspen
Made up name - I think it's likely 'Mme. Emile Debatene'. One of several that Becker gave me. I really like this one. I need to move it to a location that gets more sun. It has barely bloomed the last couple years since the trees have gotten more dense.

NOID - made up name. This is a bird offering under the smokebush.
2019: Bloomed - it's a semi-double, lovely cream color with pale pink blush and rose anthers. Quite nice.

NOID. Made up name
Out in the pasture. This is one of my favorites - I've always loved the "old lace" types for some reason.

NOID. Made up name
Front Bank - by the plum tree (#1)
H&T - Out in the pasture (#2), before it got moved from the Front (#3)
KK - I dug most of these up and moved them to the pasture. There are still some behind the obelisk. They keep spreading here. (#4)

Aspen
NOID. Made up name. At the top of the bank in the Aspen Garden. It needs to be moved - it's kind of in the middle of the ant hill and it doesn't get much water. I can't wait to try doing that. It's a really pretty one though and deserves a nicer spot.

Vans Poplar (Popululus 'Vans')

At the corner of Larry's fence on the driveway. I bought this several years after we planted the 2 big poplars. It has grown much slower and has no cotton.

Dead Zone
I planted one of these out in the pasture a long time ago. It lived for about 2 years before succumbing to deer damage. It was not fenced. It started to come back from the root stock, but that didn't last long either.

Dead Zone
I planted one of these in the lower yard in 2008, where the raspberries were before we moved them into the veggie garden. It made it a year or two and then just woke up dead in the spring. It was really pretty while it lasted. I have not had much luck down there with trees, other than aspen. They probably get root rot in the spring during high water.

Back yard - from Denese
2022: This tree is doing well and is a nice size. Unfortunately, it's reverting to solid green leaves in a lot of places. I can easily trim off the stuff at the bottom that's green, but now the main leader at the top is all green, and I'm afraid the whole tree will follow suit. Don't know what to do.

From Deb/little Charlie
2017: I pruned this in late June after looking on the internet for advice. I went with "Winter dormancy is the best time, but if you think it needs pruning, do it now. Otherwise you will never do it."
2016: One of the main branches died. Sun/wind damage? Bark was cracked and split.
