Planting a Rootbound Plant

When you have a root-bound plant in a pot, give it a nice long soak in a tub of water before trying to remove it from its pot, so you don't end up breaking off the majority of the roots.

What Is a Determinate Tomato?

Determinate tomato plants will produce a single large crop in a smaller space. They can be easily grown in common tomato cages and then removed when production declines. Indeterminate tomatoes, which include most heirloom varieties, continue to grow throughout the season and are especially productive where the growing season is long. They will require staking, pruning, and tying, or a more robust custom cage to keep them upright.

Some new recommendations from our members:
Bonehead recommended Burnt Ridge Nursery and wrote:

Family owned farm in business since 1980. Mail order, specializing in unusual and disease resistant fruiting trees, vines, and shrubs. Many Northwest native plants/trees as well. I had been searching local nurseries in vain for a white mulberry tree and finally resorted to an online search (mail order is not my preference for plants). This nursery popped up and had several different mulberries of all colors. I emailed them explaining my intended use (inside my chicken yard as forage for the birds) and asked for their recommendation. I received a quick and informative reply, placed an order, and received the tree within days. The tree was packed very securely and had a good foot of healthy roots in soil, not a large specimen, but with several nice healthy leaves. Very reasonably priced for both the tree and the shipping. Has only been in-ground for a couple weeks, if I remember I will update how it does over the summer.

Anderwood recommended Funky Gardens and wrote:
