Lemon Catnip (Nepeta cataria 'Citriodora') produces heavy clusters of white blossoms in the mid to late summer. In addition to the well-known effect of its leaves on cats, catnip's blooms are very attractive to bees and butterflies. Catnip attracts lacewings, a beneficial insect that feeds on a variety of garden pests, including aphids. Catnip also reportedly helps to repel mosquitoes, flea beetles, and ants.

The feral cats who frequent my backyard were not enticed by 'Citriodora' or Lemon Catnip, although they did roll around in my Catmint 'Walker's Low'.

This plant has a strong lemon scent that both cats and humans enjoy. Cats eat the leaves, and the leaves can be steeped for tea as a human sleep aid.
