Another in a long series of Marketmore releases from Cornell Univeristy. Added Resistance: downy mildew, powdery mildew, scab, cucumber mosaic virus. That appears to be the major difference from the original Marketmore. Marketmore 80, 82, 85, 86, 87, 88, 92, and 97 have also been introduced, each with additional disease resistance or freedom from bitterness but I have not tried them all. This one is pretty good.

Bred by Dr. Henry M. Munger of Cornell University and released in 1976. Does well in cool climates.

The local nurseries around here usually sell the Marketmore 76 seedlings instead of the older Marketmore. Marketmore 76 has more disease resistance than the original so buy this improved variety if you can find it. I have grown both and the actual cucumbers both taste the same to me.

Always a great performer in my garden. Produces large amounts of cukes that are very consistent in size and shape. Excellent flavor, a favorite in my house all through the summer.

I have grown this cucumber for several years and have always been pleased with its performance.
