The foliage is beautiful! However, I was hoping for pink flowers, based on the description on the label, but the flowers are actually a not-so-pleasing white. Is flower color purely genetic, or is there a soil additive that would turn the flowers pink?

'Summer Wine' is a newer cultivar than 'Diablo' and is used more often nowadays. It is a smaller shrub of 4 to 6 feet high. Its leaves are smaller than the average Ninebark and its slender twigs tend to twist around some and hang out in an irregular fashion. Like 'Diablo' it often gets picked on by Powdery Mildew fungus that causes some death of the twigs and leaves during warm or hot humid or wet times.
