I'm growing this gourd for the first time this year. I was curious about how it curved into the swan shape, since it didn't seem like it was possible to do that if it was climbing. I thought that in order for the swan shape to be achieved, it would have to be grown without climbing. I was very surprised to see that the gourd, when it is small, curls around the branch so that it hangs down on the opposite side of where it starts growing! Makes perfect sense now! The vine has been a very fast grower, much faster than any other gourds I am growing this year. It is in a large half-barrel type planter and is doing really well.
