I am successfully growing 'Macho Mocha' here in zone 7a with adequate winter protection.

Pups and the parent plant can display different coloration. The amount of direct sunlight will also affect color.

Attractive offsetting cultivar with soft, sprawling, channeled leaves that have many small purple spots, giving the overall plant a speckled/splotched look. Leaves are brittle and easily broken by moderate trauma.

Will reach different sizes depending on care, from about 2 feet (with little water in full sun) to twice that or more (given more forgiving conditions). Inflorescences (about 3-4 feet on up) are dominated by the purple filaments of the flowers. Reported to be hardy down to 9°F.

A 2004 Yucca Do Nursery introduction. Originally grown from seed collected from Agave (Manfreda) variegata in an area where Agave mitis (celsii) was also growing, thus suspected to be a hybrid of the two, and formerly (and still) called a Mangave.
