Paeonia 'Early Scout', (1-SL-R) albiflora x tenuifolia Hybrid Peony, (Auten, 1952), USDA Hardiness Zone 4, 24" tall, single, dark red, red filaments, yellow anthers, green carpels with red stigmas, deep green dissected foliage, very early bloomer, Bloom Month 5b-6. Hybrid of Paeonia lactiflora 'Richard Carvel' x unnamed tenuifolia. It's been a reliable grower and bloomer in Michigan. Flowers are small. APS Gold Metal 2001.
