(63 days) This vigorous and productive 7- to 8-inch-long classic slicer is resistant to bacterial wilt disease.

The standard for open pollinated slicing cucumbers. Nice straight, dark green 8 inch fruits. Reasonably productive. Straight Nine is a shade better for me, but never atained the general popularity of Straight Eight.

This is the third year I've grown Straight Eight, which has consistently out-yielded every other cuke I've tried in my zone 6a garden, including Double Yield (which did poorly). And as with every cucumber I've grown, it falls victim to powdery mildew before the season is over; the difference is that it's very productive in the months that it thrives.
Great taste, excellent in salads and for cucumber water.

Straight Eight is an old reliable standby in my vegetable garden. I have grown a few vines of this variety for years. Makes a nice salad cucumber.
