    Cordial originated in the USA, bred by Murray Evans from Oregon and registered with the RHS in 1970. It has since been used by Evans and another American breeder, Dr. John Reed (from Michigan), in their respective breeding programs, resulting in 10 named cultivars and 15 noted seedlings.
