I have grown this hardy gem of a rose for many years. It suckers readily and is found in numerous very old cemeteries throughout my state. Groundskeepers have chopped and mowed them down in many cases only for them to sucker and pop up again! Apparently it has survived without any care at all since these cemeteries date back to the very early 1800's. It heralds spring to my gardens with its tiny pristine blooms, and in the fall the dark hips provide ornamental interest. It is the hardiest and most fuss-free rose you can grow in the cold climates and is truly a historical treasure.
