I have had this plant in my mixed border for 10+ years and it is 26'' tall. The flowers smell sweet and attract many insects, including butterflies.
Occasionally a new shoot will grow from the roots a couple feet away from the parent plant, easy to cut and transplant for more beautiful bushes.
Great fall color.
Prefers moist soil but once established will grow fine in average garden .

'Little Henry' is a compact form of Virginia Sweetspire that has smaller, narrower leaves and smaller flower clusters and more slender stems. Many conventional nurseries sell this cultivar as the second most used cultivar after 'Henry's Garnet.' Most nurseries say it will get to 3 to 4 feet high, but one I planted in a church front yard in southeast Pennsylvania about 8 or 10 years ago bought from a conventional nursery, is now almost 6 feet high and around 12 feet wide. It looks good and is working out, but it is bigger than I thought it would get. (The mother species is usually 5 to 10 feet high and wider.) Give even dwarf or compact cultivars enough time and many will get bigger than expected.
