    This tree peony typically starts out with solid color blooms but will produce striped blooms as the plant matures. There can be striped and solid colored flowers blooming on this plant at the same time!

    "Paeonia suffruticosa 'Shima-Nishiki', (2-DB-R) Japanese Tree Peony, (Japanese, Botan), USDA Hardiness Zone 4, Short, semi-double, red and white candy striped petals, yellow stamens, red tipped carpels, slight fragrance, early bloomer, Michigan Bloom Month 5b-6.

    Occasionally produces a solid red bloom. It has no fixed form. A very full semi-double, almost double. A bud mutation of Taiyo."
