I have been ordering from Miles' To Go for at least 15 years, if not more. I have always been happy with the plants I've received. They are high quality plants. His prices are more than fair. I can't praise his growing skills enough.

There are links to photos of the plants he is offering for sale in the catalog listing online.

I highly recommend Miles' To Go.

By Jerrytheplater on Apr 10, 2024 9:36 PM, concerning Paradise Found Nursery:

I have ordered from Paradise Found Nursery twice. I was looking for Malagasy Caudiciform Euphorbia and they have them! I ended up speaking with the owner and found out they grow their Euphorbias in large beds on the tables and rely on ants to pollinate the plants. They don't collect the seed either. They let it scatter in the beds and grow on its own. They harvest the plants to sell when they are large enough. Obviously, these beds are spaced far enough apart to maintain purity in the plants.

The plants are shipped bare root and are well wrapped and labeled. You can request heat packs for a fee for winter shipments in cold areas.

Due to theft, personal visits to their greenhouses must be by appointment. No exceptions. I can understand this. And agree with it.

You can sign up to get on their VIP list which allows you to take part in special online sales. Photos of each specific plant are posted so you can see the exact plant you are purchasing.

I won't comment on the prices. That is for each to decide. If I find a plant I'm really looking for, the price is not such a large factor.

By Jerrytheplater on Apr 5, 2024 10:26 PM, concerning Waterford Gardens:

Waterford Gardens originally was Wm. Tricker and Son and opened in 1895. I went there as a boy in the 1960's. When Mr. Schmidlin retired in the 1980's, it was sold and became Waterford Gardens. I still go there now. They sell quality plants of all types. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend them. They will repot your plants for a fee. They have a crew that will build a pond for you and even maintain it, for a fee. I will really be sad if they ever close.

The following is not meant to be negative. It is meant to be true.

They are located right on the Saddle River in a flood plain. They are limited in what remediation they can do and some of the physical greenhouses are in sore need of repair, which can't be done. They get flooded frequently and the water can cover their growing troughs inside of the greenhouses. It is a real problem that they really can't address. Environmental protection you know.

These are pages from a Tropical fish book written by Wm. T. Innes in around the early 1930's called Exotic Aquarium Fishes. I devoured it while in grammar school in the 1960's. It looks exactly like it was photographed in Wm. Tricker. That is exactly what the greenhouses look like, with the concrete troughs with narrow aisles. Except for the current condition as above. Wear clothes you won't mind getting wet and muddy. Same for your shoes.

These pages talk about fish breeding. Waterford no longer breeds fish. They did in the 1960's.

By BlueRidgeGardener23 on Mar 16, 2024 7:57 AM, concerning Winterberry Iris Gardens:

Across six years, I've ordered many irises. All came trimmed, labeled and healthy - some of the best irises I've gotten, especially the rebloomers. In all orders, I worked with Ginny Spoon who was courteous, accommodating and fantastic.

Specific note, last year I ordered an iris but was given a mislabled one. When I notified Ginny, she sent several replacements at no expense to me. Above and beyond! I highly recommend this vendor, especially if you want quality reblooming irises.

By DeweyRooter on Feb 15, 2024 3:46 AM, concerning Simonton Bridge Daylily Farm:

Simonton Bridge has a huge inventory. I have found several cultivars I couldn't find anywhere else. The owner, Joann Stewart, is a very knowledgeable daylily person and is extremely helpful and friendly. She answers email promptly and has gone out of her way to mail plants at a time convenient for me.

I have ordered from her twice, and the plants have done really well here. Simonton Bridge is now one of my favorite "go-to" vendors. Strongly recommended.

By adknative on Dec 29, 2023 7:16 AM, concerning Bootstrap Farmer:

I discovered Bootstrap Farmer a few years ago, almost by accident. I was looking for better seed starter trays, instead of buying more of the cheap trays that crack so easily or break and dump loads of pots when you try to pick them up. A google search brought up their site.

Growers themselves, faced with the same problems I had... poor trays that did not do the job... they started making their own, then started selling them to other growers. Yes, you will pay a bit more in the beginning... but they have expanded to a large collection of seed-starter trays and accessories, including heavy-duty tray domes, which you can use and reuse over and over again, more than paying for themselves in short order.

They have also branched into other grow areas ... including LED lighting, hydroponics and irrigation, plant supports, pots, grow bags ... and even clothing.

I highly recommend their grow trays, I am a repeat customer and use their sturdy, heavy-duty trays not only in my indoor grow room but also in my greenhouse. (They have both shallow and high wall trays.) You can pick them up with a full load of pots without the trays bending or cracking. Best products ever! And they come in colours...

By adknative on Dec 29, 2023 6:54 AM, concerning Lyndon Lyon Greenhouses, Inc.:

I have purchased from Lyndon Lyon's Greenhouses multiple times and will attest to their healthy and beautiful African violets!

I have had orders shipped to me, which are packed incredibly well and all products clearly labeled... And I have picked up plants at their greenhouses in person. They sell leaf sets from African violets as well as mature plants, and have a rich, vast and abundant collection of varieties, including vintage and both leaf and bloom chimeras. Everything I have purchased from them has done well.

Highly recommend them! Attaching a few of my African violet pics...

I love this company's seed selection and the amount of seed you get based on species is amazing. I also have had really good germination rates from these guys and very friendly too.

By rgardendesign on Dec 12, 2023 7:03 PM, concerning Borderlands Nursery & Seed:

If you have looking for native seeds, I do recommend this company I have had very good luck with germinations rates and healthy plants. This would be 2nd out of 4 seed companies I regularly buy from.
