It rained most of yesterday. This is a photo of my smoke bush with the raindrops in the "smoke" or blooms.

Great pictures Ann. I really like Tahitian shores, Blue Eclipse and the Smoke bush with all the rain drops, it's awesome. Ehren Thomas is blooming for me today also.

Thanks, all. The bloom on Tahitian Shore was enormous for a newly planted daylily.

Ann, your blooms are beautiful! I really like the smoke bush picture, too. The water looks like ice crystals. What a welcome slow steady rain it was here, and I bet there, too.

I love your smoke bush picture -- very artsy! Your daylilies are so beautiful, and I especially love your EHREN THOMAS and ICICLES. My ICICLES has just started blooming, too, and yours has quite a bit more color than mine. I guess it's our heat, as so many of mine never seem to show the depth of colors that the blooms of the people back east have. That's why I enjoy so much seeing everyone else's blooms, so I can see what mine SHOULD look like! nodding

Several FFO's today, many not worthy of photographing.

Orange Cherry Jubilee - FFO It seems a lot of mine have spooning on the sepals. I don't know if it is the cool nights or what it might be.

Is the composted one because it is similar to too many others or is there some other characteristic that is unacceptable? I am interested in what criteria are used by different hybridizers to decide what to nurture and what gets tossed.
It’s okay to not know all the answers.

I don't think the seedling that will be composted is very pretty. I didn't get further than the bloom to even look at branching and bud count. There are so many daylilies somewhat similar but better. No need for another one.

I took a few photos this morning. It was a cool morning so some had not completely opened. We are about two weeks ahead of schedule, but our temps are about normal.

Smooth Talker is a BIG bloom, not quite open.

Mystic Image had three flowers open this morning. The double edge on this one is very nice and as our temps get hotter, the edge gets bigger.

A couple of seedlings

I have kept this one for several years. I like the bloom - it is small, maybe 4" but it doesn't rebloom.

This is a FFO ever. I can't capture the color with my camera, which doesn't like dark flowers. It is a dark burnt orange, not red. It also has some thrip damage. Note to self - spray for thrips. This is Ethel Buccola X SC Hot Tamales.

Smooth Talker is really big and showy, but hard to capture it's beauty with a camera. I know what you mean about thrips and I DID spray. It only seemed to help a bit. But, Talladega has been outstanding this year and with very little thrip damage. Awesome pictures!
