May is over, leaving us with at least one question: What happened to the Roses Unlimited sale that's usually held in May?

No idea on the RU sale, but one of their roses that I thought I had lost as it had died 100% to the ground last winter (2010/2011) and never sprouted in 2011 is now about 12" and has 2 buds on it! IceGirl survived! And I have a bloom on my HoneySweet I got from them last year, too! Unfortunately Maria Shriver didn't make it, as Cajun Moon, Brilliant Veranda, Twilight Tryst, and a few others. I lost over 80% of RU's roses so that's it, I'm done, not ordering from them again. I love their selection, I love their roses.. they're just too small to survive without extreme babying in my area.

Isn't it wonderful? I got it as a little band rose from Cliff when Eurodesert was still in business. He certainly carried some great roses.

and I have my first blooms on an unknown epiphylium, a gnarly looking plant most of the year, then it does this!


I have this clematis, 'Ashva', planted with Autumn Sunset, it's just loaded with blooms and I love the color combo! Not the best shot, wrong angle of the sun.

Sue, does your Yantai start off with a yellow flush? Mine put out solid yellow blooms last month, but this month's blooms look like yours. Fun!

I only took one picture of it last year, it was so small in a pot then. Much happier in the ground.

I have never seen it with solid yellow though.

Mine always puts out many yellow blooms, but look at the photos on HMF. About half are yellow and half aren't. If mine didn't produce both types of blooms, I'd suspect two different roses were being sold under this name.

I love the peachy pink look I have now. It's a great little rose!

One thing about June are the storms. It stormed here pretty heavily on my side of town on Saturday afternoon, but Sunday it completely blew over & pounded the Eastern plains badly.



This area of town is known as Dove Valley, which (for now) is a beautifully undeveloped area of SE Denver near the Centennial Airport.

Wow, it is just so flat! You can see forever. Looks so differnt from what I am used to here.

Rita - That's looking out east. East is very flat. Plus that's on a hill, so you can really see for quite a ways. These shots show probably 20-25 miles.

You evil creature you. I just ordered 5 (Lady X, Twilight Tryst, Solitude, & 2 English Perfumes). I had all before from RU and none made it before. This time, I'm gonna baby these beauties & hope for the best.
