This is so pathetic. Over 300 roses and very few look decent enough to take pictures of. I need to feed & weed desperately. The backyard's turning into a veritable jungle of weeds. And that's with over 6" of mulch AND weedblock down! The weeds just grow in the mulch! Bleh!!

Anyways, I took some pictures this morning. Over 90% of my roses look like absolute poo, so I only took the best ones I could. *sigh* Thumbs down Thumbs down Thumbs down

PPal - Koko is a spectacular rose for me. I love how it truly does start milk chocolate color that fades to a true lavender. I can probably pick up one locally & send it to you if you'd like.

Golly, thanks, Toni! Unfortunately Floribundas, Hybrid teas and their kin don't do well for me so I've vowed only to buy the tough Old Garden types so that I don't commit undue rose murder.

Toni, your roses look wonderful. Just wonderful. I tip my hat to you.
So many of those you listed are new enough that they don't have deep roots yet, so you have beaten all the odds in this wacky weather year.
My 5 year old roses are doing fine...anything 2 yrs or newer is suffering.

What *is* it with earwigs? Almost all season I haven't had any, and now all the sudden it's raining earwigs! DISGUSTING. I'm OK w/most bugs, but there's something about earwigs that makes my stomach crawl.. not to mention when I have one on my arm! OMG! Today I was taking some pictures of some of the roses (I watered SOOOO heavily yesterday due to the damned heat again.. )

Thumb of 2012-07-16/Skiekitty/a9bff3

Anyways, took a few pictures of a couple of blooming roses. This was taken either Sunday morning or this morning.

Where the aspen used to be in my front yard, I put a bird feeder (I need to replace it.. I got a cheapo plastic one that always falls apart) and planted "blue" roses around the stump. Here's what that looks like. Upper left is Melody Parfumee, lower left is Singin' the Blues, right of the pedestal is Angel Face, and far right is BlueGirl. Also have a Sterling Silver in there between BlueGirl & Singin' the Blues, but it's not blossoming.

Here's the bouquet I took into the office today that was covered in earwigs. GROSS!!! I didn't get shots of the Hawkeye Belle, New Year, Sunsprite, SolarFlash, Scentimental, Yankee Doodle, or Voluptuous! individually.

And my purple "hummingbird mint" agastache (can't remember the exact "type" as it was just marked Hummingbird Mint but I know it's an Agastache cana, please excuse the totes everywhere! Those are my weeding totes & one I keep full of water for the birds in the front)

Shannon - White Licorice is doing quite well. I got that one from Garden Valley Roses as a bareroot last year, it did survive my winter (what winter I had), and has been blooming quite profusely this season. But it doesn't keep it's scent for long. Sad It's too late in the season for me to be rose hunting that much, but if you want, I can check out some nurseries & see if the have GB. If they do, I can get it & send it to you if you'd like. But, like I said, it's kind of late this year. I know I can find it easily next year if you'd like.

Those blue roses are just incredible. They never get those deep colors here.
Shannon, I moved super large roses using a big black trash bag. Put damp newspapers in there to keep some moisture on the roots for when the soil falls off.
How soon can you replant? If it's going to be a while, you will probably need to pot them up. Cut them back, also.

Shannon - It smells as wonderful as it is gorgeous. It's one of my favorites. Got it from Roses Unlimited and babied it through it's first winter to make sure it survived (RU sends beautiful roses, but awfully small for my winters).
