How strange and beautiful. Hurray! Hurray! I see they are native of Tibet, where did you find them?

You seldom find a true blue flower.

Hi Marilyn--I found this impatiens at Annie's Annuals (http://www.anniesannuals.com/p...). I had to swallow hard when it came to the shipping charge, which is outta sight, but felt that in this case it was worth it. It self sows quite easily, but you have to take the plants inside to overwinter them.

Larry,

Thanks, I tip my hat to you. Maybe I will wait till next spring and look for them then. I really do like them.

They are really unique. I would like to build a container around them.

My seed packet says to germinate @15-20 degrees Celsius.
I'll start a batch this way, too, but my first is getting a different treatment. I sowed the first batch just above room temperature for one week, then put the container on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. I plan to take it back to room temperature about a week from now. Smiling

Is the disease attacking impatiens pretty much gone????
Haven't used them last couple of years due to powdery mildew or whatever it was attacking them.

I'm all ears! I'm all ears!

Larry, thank you, but that article is from 2012..... the question is ... Is it still a problem today ??. Spring 2014

I love impatiens and used them a lot but I am not going to buy them again until they are free of this disease.

That article specifically mentions the common landscape variety, Impatiens walleriana. I have never seen it on any of the ones Annie's Annuals sells.

I shop there in person as it's pretty local to me and the prices are cheaper directly from the nursery. She's my inspiration to try so many wonderful plants. Thumbs up

Marylin--I've been buying impatiens every year and have not had a problem.

Sue--Lucky girl! Wish I could have such easy access to Annie's Annuals. They are fantastic! Unfortunately, it costs me an arm and a leg in postage If I want to order anything.
