Today is Tagawa's "Night of Wines and Roses". They'll actually start selling their hothouse roses tonight, starting at 4pm. DH calls it the "Running of Little Old Ladies to the best Roses". That's what it's probably going to be this year as last year the weather was horrid and there wasn't a big turn out. This year, it may just rain instead of snow like heck. I haven't decided what to get! I'm getting 2 roses (that's what my budget is for and I cannot go over budget at ALL) and there's just too big of a selection to narrow it down:

I'm thinking about Singin' the Blues & Sweetness. Those are two I know I cannot get hardly anywhere else. Only problem is that I really don't like J&P roses (don't have good luck w/them).

Decisions Decisions!

How much are they selling them for? They don't mail order do they? My Mom is looking for a reasonably priced Tamora and the local nursery here was $40 (planted in a larger than usual plastic pot). Think we'll need to look at a few more local nurseries.

They'll be $39.99 - 20%. Ridiculous, but I can definitely see if Paulino's has Tamora cheaper. They usually sell 'em for about $22-$25 and that's in those 3gal grow pots. Problem is that David Austins are just not very popular around here.

Well we can find it for that price around here, I'll check in with Garden Valley to see if they have it in stock and pick it up in person since I go up Zuzu's way several times a month now.

OK, I got a couple of pictures before the Running of the Roses. There was over a hundred people this year versus like 15 last year (bad snow storm). I ended up getting totally different roses than I had planned. I wasn't impressed with Sweetness... I don't see a difference between that rose and Blue Girl. And, Sweetness is a J&P rose and I don't like J&P roses.. they just don't grow worth a hoot and a hollar for me. I ended up getting a Firefighter, Gingersnap (I believed mine was dead), and DH chose Ch-Ching!. All of these are Weeks roses, and I love Weeks.

I just saw tonight (of course after they closed) that Home Depot got their roses in! So I'll be getting up god-awfully early (for me, especially on a Saturday) and going through their roses. Who knows what I will come across!

from gvr I got midnight blue & sir john be-something or another. from palatine I got stephen's big purple, laguna freelander, blue bayou & kordes brilliant.

went to home depot this morning. they didn't have a good selection of different roses. I got a paradise, circus, peace, heirloom, perfume delight, double delight, golden masterpiece, & one other I can't remember.

right now i'm at the vet waiting for Conan's x-rays to see how his hand is.

I do love someone who says they didn't have a good selection but buys eight of them anyway.

Last year, I picked up over 20, every one different from the other.
