I picked this one up this spring
It is not in the database yet so I will have to create a space.
It is called 'Samba pink bicolor'


I like the little white star in the center , I think it is the stigma.
It does not seem to produce seeds so I will try to overwinter a piece in the house.

It should be edible. That's said to be a variety of Portulaca oleracea, which is edible.

I just bought this! It didn't have a tag but looks just like your photos. These are awesome plants.

VERY AWESOME I have 2 pink and 2 yellow purslane. One of the stems broke off the yellow when I was planting it. I stuck in some potting soil and it was blooming two days later! Whoo Hoo!

This bloom is on a cutting I took. They are amazing the way the cuttings keep blooming!

People report eating other Portulacas besides oleracea (purslane) often, so it doesn't seem like the others are any less edible than purslane. The plant of this discussion looks like a P. grandiflora.

* The edible known as purslane is P. oleracea, and has flat, fat foliage, small yellow flowers with 5 petals. There are no cultivars or hybrids.
* Those with foliage like 'juicy pine needles' are P. grandiflora, variously colored, multi-petaled flowers. (moss roses, many cultivars.)
* The one with foliage that looks like purslane, sold in stores with the annuals with variously colored flowers that are much larger than purslane, with usually 5 petals but sometimes more, is P. umbraticola. (sold as moss roses also, or ornamental purslane, many cultivars.)

My chipmunks think that they are ALL edible!
I've had to give up trying to grow them because the chippies eat them until they are completely gone. There's no point spending money on chipmunk candy!
