Tina's thread about green daylilies got me thinking again about green throated daylilies. Back when we were the Daylilies Cubit I remember that Calif Sue started a thread about them, which I really enjoyed and learned a lot from, and I'm wondering if people have pictures you can share with us now. I have some and will be delighted to start.

Thanks :)

I bought it at the daylily show this past June, as a bare root. Brought it home and put it in water. 5-7 days later, still unplanted, it had that gorgeous bloom on it. Thumbs up

edited to fix egregious typo -- I did NOT leave a bare root DL soaking in water for 57 days. Hilarious!

I don't have this daylily, but it is definitely on my want list. If you want to see a gorgeous daylily with a super green throat, go to Paul Owen's website, and look up his previous intro named SUGAR HIGH. It is sold out for 2012, and I can certainly see why. Be sure to view the high-res photo and read the description of the green throat that is thick with wax so the flower will hold out even on a hot day. Gotta love it!!!

I love, love green throats. If a seedling does not have one, and I
think it needs it for dimension, then the seedling is discarded. That's
how much I love green throats.

Will have to go through the photos a bit later to see what I have
to add. Enjoying all that have been shown already, and of course,
there are those that need to be added to one's list that we didn't
even know about until now.

Great idea, by the way!!!

I just made a very interesting discovery--I went to the Plant Database to look up Sugar High and the photograph posted by Calif. Sue, is the very same photo on Paul Owen's website. Also, I looked up Green Rainbow and there are a number of really good photos of this one, just reinforces my desire to get it. I am expecting to receive Judy Davisson's Rambunctious Rosie in about four weeks, and it has a big green throat, can hardly wait until next year to see it bloom!!

I love the Oz flowers too. Wow, many of these blossoms you guys
are showing have very large green throats. Most of the ones I have
are small green throats, and I really really like those
larger ones.

Lovely flowers! Hurray! So many of them are very accessible, too ... I think Betty's idea of starting a thread on attractive aspects of the flower is super!! Maybe we can hope to see more about forms, too, like crispate vs cascade (still don't really get the differences in the many forms!) and all the different kinds of ruffles and eyes, etc. Really love the background info, comments, and pics; for example, I never noticed before how much depth that dark green throat can give (so glad it was pointed out). Wow! nodding

Betty - the Daylily Cubit was moved here. All the threads from there are now in this forum on ATP. Here is a link to Calif_Sue's thread.
The thread "Green Throats" in Daylilies forum

I love green throats. I don't have a photo, but I saw one in a friend's garden last summer that I fell head over heals for. OUR FRIEND CRAIG by gary Shaben. My favorite daylily color is yellow, and OFC is really yellow, with a big, very, very green throat. Concrete Blonde x Just Another Yellow - I still grow JAY and it is a fabulous yellow. I used to grow Concrete Blonde and it is another great one. My friend's OUR FRIEND CRAIG is not big enough to divide. I'd love to get a piece of it. Here is the ATP database page - the photo Vic posted from Nova Scotia looks closer to what I saw at my friend's house. Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Our Friend Craig')
