Hi!

I loved the thread last year that Janice (sandnsea2) started, that I'd love to have it every year! I'm able to keep track of what I've ordered! Lovey dubby Hurray! Green Grin!

So, I'm starting the 2013 - Where Are You Ordering From? Thumbs up

This is what I've ordered so far (besides ordering daylilies from the Lily Auction).....

Crownsville Nursery

(I've ordered from them off and on, since 1997 and have been very happy. This year, they're offering some plants in 3" pots - cheaper price. They used to offer only plants in quart pots and I'm happy that they're offering 3" pots! Some of the plants are only offered in 3" pots and some are only in qt. pots and some are offered in both. I'm getting one of each of these).

PS... don't wait too long to order from them, so you get what you want! Thumbs up

Salvia 'Indigo Spires' (3" pots)
Salvia oxyphora (3" pots)
Salvia ‘Mulberry Jam’ (3" pots)
Salvia 'Big Swing' (3" pots)
Lantana 'Miss Huff' (Qt pots)
Salvia involucrata 'Hidalgo' (3" pots)

This is the email I got from them yesterday (1/2/13) that I posted on the Perennials forum

Got an email from them today (1/2/13) and the early discount is 15%, so I ordered 6 plants! http://www.crownsvillenursery....

---

Order before 2/15/2013 and also take advantage of our 15% Early Order Discount! (discount will be applied automatically at checkout) You can even save this additional 15% on top of the 25%+ discounts offered in Great Plants at Great Prices.. & with free shipping on orders of $250 or more, your total savings can approach 50%.

Announcing our new 3” Econo pot. These pots are 3”x3”x4¼” deep. They are smaller & lighter (for shipping) so we can offer many of your favorites at very attractive prices. Many items are also still offered in our traditional Quart pot that is 4.2"x4.2”x4.9" deep. More info at About Pot Sizes.

---

Please note the shipping from Crownsville Nursery states:

We ship by UPS Ground to the following states:

AL, AR, CO, CT, DE, DC, FL, GA, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MD, MA, MI, MN, MS, MO, NE, ND, NH, NJ, NY, NC, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, VT, VA, WV, WI

We do not ship to AK, AZ, CA, HI, ID, MT, NM, NV, OR, UT, WA, WY

---

I'm going to order from other places and mainly for Hummingbirds. Some plants happily attract Hummers, BF's and Bees! I'll add more later.

Marilyn, you're going to need to put in a bee hive! Lots of delicious varieties on your hummer/bee/flutterby menu there.

So far, I've got these coming in spring from Santa Rosa. I placed my order just before midnight Dec. 31. It was hard to resist adding more when they extended their sale into January!

Achillea Desert Eve Deep Rose
Echinacea Butterflies Julia
Bletilla Big Bob

Coreopsis Redshift
Heuchera Encore
Phlox paniculata Peacock Rose Dark Eye

Sarracenia Dana's Delight
Stokesia laevis Mels Blue
Coreopsis Big Bang Mercury Rising

Heuchera xvillosa Beaujolais
Hydrangea macrophylla Mariesii Variegata

There are a couple plants on that list that I've never grown before -- the pitcher plant (Sarracenia) and the Chinese ground orchid (Bletilla). I ordered a 'Peacock Purple' phlox last year; it arrived in bloom and kept right on blooming; loved it so much I had to order its 'Rose' sister.

I also ordered some daylilies from Lalambchop that I'm pretty excited about, especially 'Get Off My Tutu' since that's one of her own intros, and I remember when she had a "name this daylily" thread for it. :-)

GET OFF MY TUTU
YABBA DABBA DOO
FIT TO COMMAND
MANOR BORN
ENCHANTER'S SPELL
APACHE BEACON

Jill,

You've a lot of wonderful beauties coming also! Hurray!

We'll have to share pics later this year! Hopefully, I'll be able to get out and take pics in the hot Summer sun. If not, then I'll take some in the Fall! Thumbs up

I noticed you're up very early, like I am! Whistling I couldn't sleep, so I'm "plugging away" on ATP! Green Grin!

Growing tips, please! ("one year it died" is a garden accident if it was doing fine before then) Do they "talk bletillas" on the orchid forum? Or are they not "really" orchids? I should probably have researched before plonking down my $15, but I couldn't resist those blooms.

This is my first educational trip down the Bletilla lane too, Critter. I'll post a thread in the Orchid Forum and we'll see what we can learn, eh?

Critter,

The year it died for my might have been a late freeze and at the same time, may have not had any mulch on it. I'm was and am still puzzled about it as you are. I don't know why it died. I haven't gotten around to replacing it, even though it was years ago.

It is worth growing! I don't really know the cultural growing regarding it.

I'll have to check the tread/forum Chelle is talking about!

I have only ordered seeds this year. And WAY too many!! I won't be ordering many plants at all. I ordered my seeds from Summerhill, Harris, Swallowtail, Thompson &Morgan, Johnny's, and Jung

I will make the driver over to Bluestone Perennials. I got a $50 gift certificate for Christmas! YAY! And I will probably just go in June when they have clearance to make it stretch as far as possible.

I will also make the drive to Garden Crossings and I just found out about Romence Gardens and Greenhouse in Grand Rapids.
