I agree we need this. I'm not sure which of your options is better.

Would it work if it was added to the Miscellaneous field in the General Plant Information?
That way it could be available to any plant entry.

Okay, I've added it as "Salt Tolerant" under Miscellaneous (which was, incidentally, one of Evan's original 2 options.)

Now if I can only remember what I was researching, that would help to populate it.

Great addition! "Salt Tolerant" is something we hear about a lot here in Florida and something that many gardeners are concerned about, especially those who live on the barrier islands where they get a lot of salt spray from the ocean.

If we had a text file containing all the plants that are salt resistant, I can write a script to run through and check them all off as such in our database, all in one fell swoop.

These links are good and if anyone wants to get a head start on this by combing through the links and copying the plant names into one big post, that would make things easier for me. Otherwise I'll compile the list after I've finished my programming queue that I've got (which is pretty hefty).

In other words, scripting it is easy for me but compiling the list isn't so much.

That's good and I can use that quite well. What I would do is take that and write a program to take out just the latin names and use them. So if you had just the latin names that would be even better.
