Making a Pebble Planter

By goldfinch4

Looking for a little project to pass the time when cold or rainy weather keeps you out of the garden? How about making a cute pebble planter? This design works especially well for succulents and alpine plants because of the excellent drainage this pot provides.

I like the idea of using the hardware cloth as a support, and the weed barrier as a lining! Very nice! And you COULD do like Clint did and use a piece of wood to make the bottom a bit stouter, maybe using wire staples to attach the wire to the wood? Might be able to make something a bit larger doing that. Hmmmmm..... now what kind of adhesive did you use?

Love that container Chris, and I remember seeing Clint's last year. Both are beautiful.

I too would like to know what kind of glue you used.

You're right Woofie, there are all sorts of ways you could make them. A bigger one would be cool. And heavy! I was surprised at the weight of these little ones.

Thanks Lynn. The glue I used is shown in the first picture. It's from Ace Hardware and is called All Purpose Adhesive. I got mine locally, but here it is on line: http://www.hardwaretogo.com/pr... Note that this price is for 6 tubes.

I did leave mine outside this winter so will be anxious to see how they held up during the freeze/thaw cycles.

Chris, I did think that your planter was really inspirational, but I was most impressed with the amount of info, photos, step by step instruction, tips, did I mention photos, and thoroughness of your tutorial. Great job! Hurray!

I really like that pot - will probably make one or a dozen!

I will do that. Thanks! Like I said, it's a good thing to do this time of year when we can't go out and play in the dirt. Sticking tongue out

He thinks that the seed starting is a team project for me & him. We water, and check everything daily. He likes to smell each tray and gets in trouble if takes a nibble. He likes the lights on cold gloomy days.

Hee hee, I just had a thought: Wouldn't it be fun to put a few of these stones into one of those pebble planters? Maybe around the top edge?
