I've been looking for references for Hoya compacta. Kew WCSPF references it as unresolved on the Plant List. Plant List

IPNI notes it as being published in 1990 by C.M. Burton as a cultivated plant. IPNI

EOL notes a pressed specimen being collected by C. Burton in Panama. EOL

None of the other Taxon databases I have checked list species Hoya compacta. The RHS DB notes Hoya carnosa 'Compacta' as a cultivar. RHS.

Are all Hoya "Compacta", Hoya carnosa species? Are they hybrids? Any help appreciated.

I have had a number of these plants over the years. Always labeled Hoya carnosa for the Wax Plant and Hoya carnosa 'Compacta' (Hindu Rope) for the curly leaf variety. But sometimes they are labeled just Hoya compacta which I don't believe is correct. I have never known it to be a hybrid but rather a form of the H. carnosa. H. carnosa f. compacta might be more accurate. I don't know for certain at this point in time since names and classifications can change quickly in the plant world.
I garden for the pollinators.
