Hi Cat - I just tree-mailed you. This is an area to post various pics of diseases (identified and needing to be identified) to form a pictorial "mini-database". The link to its formation is here: The thread "Insects and Disease" in Site Talk forum

Can anyone help me with this problem? I have no idea what is wrong or how to fix it. I planted these just about two weeks ago...we have had plenty of rain. I don't see any bugs. I am just lost. Please and thanks in advance.

Welcome! We would need to know what the plants are, and also a picture of the problem would help or at least a description of what's wrong. Otherwise we've no way of helping - perhaps you intended to include a picture but it didn't come through? We can also help with that Smiling

I have an Autumn Joy question, that I've posted (link below). If anyone knows what to do, I'd be very grateful.

Daylilies...Diseases? Hello all! Sorry if this is not in the right spot...let me know and I will change it.
I took some pics to see if this is plant rust....what do you think? I do not see any creepy crawlers around my plants. My plants all started out very well this year and they were nice and full. The blooms was fantastic! The scrapes looked full. But now I find myself cleaning out lots of scrapes and at the base I see this. It makes the scrapes pull out easy...soft at the base too. Blooming is just about done only a couple are still at it. The plants are looking pretty thin now.
If this is rust do I need to cut it all out and spray with detergent? There will not be much plant left! Any ideas on what I need to do? Thanks for your help!

I'm assuming these are daylilies? It's not rust. The brown doesn't look too unusual (do you have earwigs?) but what is the blackish stuff on the leaves?

I was just wondering if you know what the black is (residue of something that had been deliberately applied or splashed on) or if that is part of the problem. It's hard to say without examining the actual plants. As I say, I don't think the brown is necessarily unusual with daylilies, and earwigs can contribute at least some of it by pooping all over the leaf bases. There's also possibly a fungal element, maybe the leaf streak fungus but that's speculation. Whatever, it doesn't seem to do much harm. If you had that brown at the soil line I'd be more concerned. Some daylilies do have scapes that pull out easily when they're done (I assume when they don't pull out easily you leave them alone, otherwise it can damage the crown?).

The only thing I can think of for the black is maybe sooty mold - do you have aphids on the daylilies? If you can get a sharp close-up of the problem areas it may help. It's not rust.

Thanks for the info...makes me feel better. I will get better images today. Shrug!
I do not have a clue what the black spots are. I do not see any bugs of any kind.

What is going on with this daylily? And what should I do with it? Some flowers have white spots, some have deformed petals. I don't see any bugs.

It looks as though the petal surface has been eaten off, so not thrips although they can cause deformity. It may be that the culprit is a "hit and run" so you don't see it when you look. Possibilities with the mouthparts to actually chew off the surface could be a beetle, grasshopper, slugs or earwigs. In my garden it would be the latter.

Thank you sooby!

This problem is hidden inside buds and nothing able to get in but bugs. They know way.
I tell what my friend recommended. It might not work with my problem but can be the solution for the other cases. When nothing helps, she mixes the cheapest glue for paper craft and water. Than she sprays plant with that mixture. Insects die because their feet, whiskers, mouth... glue together. I am going to try it. Using it now, it might save the flours in next season.

Hey, guys. I just joined this forum, as I cannot find the name of this plant blight.
At the time, I cannot post a picture, but I will make sure I will within the day.
My lettuce and cucumber plants developed insanely small black spots, about the size of the root of a hair.
The spots did nothing at first, but I noticed they started to develop groups of spots. The group of spots caused a dead portion of the plant to form around it. The lettuce remained fine, just with the spots and small dead parts, but the cucumber caused wilting on all affected leaves within two weeks.

I have a few boxwood on the northeast side of my house that I would guess to be several years old (not sure as we moved here only 1.5 years ago). Lately I began to notice new leaves were yellow in color, and the yellowing began to spread. Tonight I noticed these spots on them. Please help!
