We have a March thread of "I just bought", but we have been lately mixing in our "just bought stuff" amongst the other threads.
I don't know what the preference is, but I figured I start a new thread.
I spent a few fun hours today at the Orchid Fest at Silva Orchids. The vendors had brought some especially interesting plants this year, I enjoyed myself very much.
First of all, my red buying shoes bit the dust after more than 10 years and have been replaced by these! Very comfortable!


here is my list:
I came across a large plant of Gongora Pterodactyl/ it was labeled atropurpurea x clavidora and it really caught my attention. Awesome blooms. ( From Little Brook Orchids) Jim and Kathy, is this the same as yours, the ones I drooled over?


Vanda Adisak Blue large plant with 2 spikes just starting ( Waldor Orchids)

Laelia purpurata roxo x russelliana (from Silva) , the flower shape should be better next time, since these plants were a bit pushed to flower them in time for the Orchid Fest.


Stanhopea nigroviolacea and Stanhopea tigrina 'Predator' FCC/AOS ( Cal-Orchids)
Trichoglottis philippinensis (Glen Decker)
Zootrophion serpentinum (Andy's Orchids)
Pleurothallis allenii mounted ( Andy's Orchids)

Dendrobium unicum ( Andy's Orchids)

tiny Laelia sincorana v coerulea (Ten Shin Gardens)
Neofinetia falcata 'Kinboshi' Seed Engei)
Maxillaria Sophronitis (Glen Decker)

and two small neat looking "weird plants"
I was really smitten with this Albuca spiralis 'Fizzle Sizzle'

and this small Euphorbia which awaits identification ( expect an email from the vendor, Dragon Agro) Got a prompt email back, it is Euphorbia francoisii!


And I almost forgot, I picked up two gorgeous Sarracenias, they are already planted into the Bog.

That's funny, I got a spam email from Perla Wee (one of those you get from people you know, and contain only a link), so I've been thinking of them. They are nice people.
I can ask the Fat Plant people about your Euphorb, if you like. Quite a few grow/collect them.

Great looking shoes, Ursula. What a find on the Gongora! The Laelia is lovely, and 'Frizzle Sizzle' is truly amazing.

This weekend was the Los Angeles International Fern Society shoe at the LA Arboretum. Nice show. And Andy's was there.

Fancy buying shoes, Ursula, and they served you well. The Gongora Pterodactyl is one of the parents of my Gongora smaug (Gon. clavidora X pterodactyl) The flowers do look a lot alike. Very nice color on the purpurata. Very interesting Dendrobium unicum. Albuca spiralis 'Fizzle Sizzle' is a hoot. It will be interesting to see how it does for you.

Ted, nice haul as well. It seems like everyone is finding Lycastes except me. I'll probably have to order one from Andy as they are just not available here.

Love the Albuca spiralis 'Fizzle Sizzle' - I am at present making a purchase! Should have mine in a week!
I also have the Stanhopea nigroviolacea, have had 2 seperate sets of back bulbs for more than six months
and now each of them have begun growing new bulbs! Finally! I get so impatient with some of them.

Would love to see some pics of your S. nigroviolacea. Here are mine, looking very homely at the moment.

Thanks Eric. I will take pictures, both of the Stanhopeas are budding. But since they were in regular pots, I repotted them today very carefully, without disturbing roots or anything else, into coarse open sort of wire baskets, anchored wit just a bit of Coconut fiber.
Looking good, I see new growth on the second one too.

Isn't the 'Fizzle Sizzle' neat?

here are both of my new Stanhopeas. (Have to look which one is which, but the plants look pretty much identical.)

They are very loosely wrapped ( can't really call it potted up) with coconut fiber. The spikes will have no problem pushing through.

Very disappointed with it, it has 2 very old growths and 2 very young ones. Definitely not worth it for the money.

Yikes, those are some gorgeous big plants you got, Susan. Lookit all the buds on that Wils.

Shipping was high but prices were very reasonable, I think! The Burrageara also has multiple branched spikes and the Den also has a long spike sticking out the top, and looks like the flowers will open soon. I'm anxious to see that one, as it was a substitution for another plant I ordered.
They called from HI to ask if it was OK to substitute or if I wanted to wait until next week for the other one- they have 2 nurseries about 20 miles apart. I thought that was very nice!

Susan, Andy has disappointed me once as well but most of his plants are good.
