Wow! All of these shots are amazing, especially the ones of garden art and pure whimsy (Keys to the garden).

Thank you Zuzu. I noticed I placed a stray apostrophe in Keys to the garden, so I removed it. I must have been thinking of Keith's Delight, just above it!

I've never seen Keith's Delight before. In fact, we don't even have an entry for it, so I'd better create one right away.

I don't know how you keep Wedding Cake alive. Kudos to you! The rest of us have failed miserably. I've failed at growing two, which never even reached the point of producing blooms, and am now struggling to keep a third one alive.

Keith's Delight was one of Ralph's hybrids, and it's gotten quite large. I'm pretty sure I got it in the same order as my two Wedding Cakes, the last year that Sequoia was open, when he was 101 if I remember correctly. They were all tiny little plants when I received them. I lost one of the two Wedding Cakes after the first season. But the second one has come back three years now, even though it is quite small and I do nothing to protect it in the winter. The first year it produced those strange, rubbery, ruffled, mauve, pink, and green tinted petals. Since then they've looked a little more "normal". I hope they revert back to their strange appearance some day. I typically don't get but two bloom cycles out of it each season, and sometimes they are weirdly shaped, but I still treasure that little odd gem.

I'll be disappointed if mine blooms and looks "normal." I want the odd blooms.

Speaking of odd, do you still have Most Unusual Day? Mine's still struggling along, but seems to produce blooms only in the middle of a heat wave or a rainstorm, both of which ruin the blooms, so I've yet to photograph it.

It, too, produced those strange rubbery petals that seemed to last forever. Alas, the plant didn't (last forever, that is), and I lost it after its first season. It was another spindly little thing so I tried to overwinter it in the garage, but think I kept the soil too moist.

Pompon Flower Circus reminds me a little bit of Wedding Cake, because of the unusual combination of pink and green tints, and because Wedding Cake sometimes produces cupped blooms, that are also slow to open.

I'm very glad you enjoy them. The first blush was a little late in coming this year, but that's because I had to prune all the roses back so much after a harsh winter; and then we had a cool spring. But I actually prefer the shorter plants that I've got right now - it's a little less crowded - at least for now. I'm sure that will change in the weeks ahead. Hilarious!

Mike - Absolutely spectacular. I would say I'm impressed, but that's not saying much as it doesn't take much to impress me. I will say though, however, I'm insanely jealous!
